"Duel Monsters Expert" rulings[]
- "Mirage Gate" subtracting from your Life Points is not a cost; it is part of the card's effect. "Spell Economics" will not negate the effect. It is also not considered Damage.
- Since "Mirage Gate" is an Equip Spell, you cannot use "Barrel Behind the Door" against the damage you take when the card is destroyed.
- If the summoned Monster is removed from the field, "Mirage Gate" will be destroyed and you will take damage equal to the card's ATK at the time of destruction. You also must send the Monster Card to the Graveyard even if the card was returned to your hand.
- You can revive cards that normally cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard (such as "Dark Ruler Ha Des") as long as they were Summoned properly and destroyed in battle first.
Other rulings[]
- "Mirage Gate" can be returned to the hand or deck or sent to the Graveyard without being destroyed, and its effect will not activate. The Monster can be destroyed in battle, however.
- Monsters that are destroyed in battle but by a card effect, such as that of "Drillroid", are not eligible to be revived with "Mirage Gate".
- The initial subtraction of Life Points is based on the card's original ATK; cards with an ATK of "?" cannot be revived. When "Mirage Gate" is destroyed, damage you take is based on the card's current ATK.
