The Kaiju monsters are loosly based on the giant monsters of Japanese cinema and TV series. They operate on the key card "Cardboard City". Most Kaiju monsters are of the folowing monster Types: Beast, Beast-Warrior, Dinosaur, Dragon (rarely), Insect, Plant (rarely), Reptile, and Winged Beast (rarely). They usually have the following abilities, based on their own Level:
- Level 4 or below: They can be Special Summoned when the opponent has a "Kaiju" monster on his side of the field, or if "Cardboard City" is on the field.
- Level 5 or above: They can be Normal Summoned without a Tribute when the opponent has a Kaiju monster on their side of the field, or if "Cardboard City" is on the field.
"Kaiju" monsters may have other abilities which are based on if there are any "Kaiju" monsters or "Cardboard City" on the field.
