Mana Energy Large

The Mana Energy is one of two indicators exclusive to Mana Monsters, the other being the Mana Count. It is represented by a gold crystal in the shape of a star, and is located on the right side of the box containing the Mana Effect.

The Mana Energy is used to determine the Level of the monster to be Tributed in order to Mana Summon the Mana Monster. (For example: if a Mana Monster has a Mana Energy of 7, the player must Tribute 1 face-up Level 7 monster they control.) The Mana Energy can also be used as a substitute for a Level, should the Mana Monster be attempted to be used as a Tribute or material for a Summoning mechanic that requires Levels (namely Ritual, Synchro, or Xyz Summoning). For instance, an Energy 8 can be Tributed for the Ritual Summon of a Level 8 or lower Ritual Monster, and an Energy 5 Mana Monster can be treated as a Level 5 monster for a Synchro or Xyz Summon.
