The Passive State of a Marshal Monster is the state in which the Marshal Monster is face-up on top of the Extra Deck. In this state, the effects on the top effect box on the card are applied, similar to the Pendulum Zone effects on a Pendulum Monster. However, this effect, while the effect of a Monster Card, is treated as not being on the field. Further rules regarding the Passive State are that any Pendulum Monsters face-up on the Extra Deck are stacked beneath the Marshal Monster, and that, once per turn during their Main Phases, a player can perform a Marshal Summon to bring their Marshal Monster onto the field in its Active State.
